Finn Juhl designed the France chair in 1956. Originally called FJ 136 and made for the American market in 1956. It became – along with a number of other Finn Juhl designs – a great success.
Dimensions (HxWxD): 81 x 80 x 72 cm. Seating height 38 cm.
The chair was designed for industrial production by France & Son for. The France chair has a more simple expression than many of Juhl’s other chairs. But it still keeps the organic shapes and distinct design characteristics typical for Finn Juhl’s designs. The light wooden frame and the liberated upholstered elements – which seem to float as if they were freed from the law of gravity – make the chair seem almost aerodynamic.
