Council chair

In 2011, the Danish furniture designers Kasper Salto and architect Thomas Sigsgaard won a competition under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture to design new furniture for the Trusteeship Council Chamber in the United Nation headquarters in New York. The Chamber is often referred to as the Finn Juhl Chamber, because the Danish architect Finn Juhl was assigned to design the Trusteeship Council Chamber in 1950.

Dimensions: H: 85 cm, W: 66 cm, D: 60 cm

The design duo Salto & Sigsgaard has grasped the spirit of the Chamber and elegantly transposed Finn Juhl’s legacy into the 21st century with their sculpture of a moulded shell chair. The shells of the seat and back is produced in moulded 3D veneer. Inside, the tight organic upholstery in natural ox hide or wool fits the body like a glove. The elegant swivel base is cast in aluminium.
At Salone de Mobile in Milan, Onecollection will present this remarkable chair for the first time – even before the chair‘s inauguration in New York on April 25.
